Wear your mask!

Here is what you will need:

Two pieces of 9x5in cotton fabric (You can also cut up an old shirt if you do not have fabric)

Two pieces of about 4in of elastic (You can use hair ties if you do not have elastic)

Needle and thread or sewing machine

3in long pipe cleaner (Can be any color because you will not see the pipe cleaner when you wear the mask.)

Clips (Chip bag clips or sewing clips)

  1. Lay the pieces of fabric on top of each other with the pattern on the inside.
  2. Lay your elastic on both sides of the fabric with the elastic inside, like a sandwich.
  3. Clip the sides of the fabric together but leave a small gap at the top of the mask.
  4. Start sewing (with a sewing machine if you have one, or by hand) Go all the way around, except leave that small gap at the top. Go over the elastic twice just to be sure it will not move later.
  5. Place your pipe cleaner toward the top of the mask. (This will be what holds the mask in place on your nose)
  6. Sew the pipecleaner to the mask and close the hole.
  7. Fold the mask on the edges like a fan, and then sew the fabric like that on both sides.
  8. Trim any extra thread around the mask.
  9. Wear your mask!
